MST3K: Episode 913 - Quest of the Delta Knights

I'm watching all of the Mystery Science Theater 3000 episodes in order. More about that here and here.

Episode 913: Quest of the Delta Knights

First aired: Sci-Fi Channel on 26 September 1998
Availability: MST3KVideos.com fan copy

That's Pearl in the middle.
Some episodes are special.

This one is special, in every sense of the word.

It's another one of those where it seems I saw it every time it aired. I'm sure I didn't, but I did see it a lot. It aired 10-12 times (12 showings on 10 different weekends) from 1998 to 2003, so there were plenty of opportunities. And, when it came on, I sat and watched it. Because I really liked this episode.

Beggar David Warner buys some scrawny kid named "Tee" at a Renaissance Fair, much to everyone's apathy, and takes him home and feeds him and trains him to dance like a monkey for money, all the while hiding from Evil Guy David Warner who works for Olivia Hussey, who's five whole minutes in the movie are dedicated to letting the audience know that Evil David Warner works for her, but then Good David Warner tells Tee that he's a Delta Knight who seeks the Lost Storehouse of Archimedes which may have been Warehouse One, as far as I can tell, but anyway, it is hidden in Europe or somewhere, but Evil David Warner wants it too, so they copy a map and go looking for it, but Evil David Warner kills Good David Warner, but Tee escapes with the help of Leonardo da Vinci, who's also a Delta Knight, and some hooker who's really a princess and brother of some Robin Hood kinda guy who lives in the trees outside of town, so anyway, Tee and Leonardo find the Lost Storehouse but so does Evil David Warner, so they blow it up. The end.
Pearl on the Satellite of Love. The Thomas Neville Servo quartet.
Among the memorable things in this episode is Pearl's visit to the theater. She's upset that Mike isn't miserable, so she decides to switch up with him to see for herself what's the problem. Of course, the Bots would rather she stay instead of sending Mike back.

Evil David Warner removes his Bullwinkle hat.
We are treated to a song by the Sir Thomas Neville Servo quartet (not to be confused with the United Servo Academy Men's Chorus). Now you know his middle name. I don't know who actually came up with that. Originally, Servo was Beeper in the pilot/demo The Green Slime. He became Servo when the show first aired on KTMA. Josh came up with the first name "Tom" during an ad-lib in the KTMA season. Now, at the end of Season Nine, he gets a middle name.

We are treated to a visit from Leonardo da Vinci, who apparently isn't somebody you'd want to cross.

The ending Host Segment is the weak one, but it's a fun little piece nonetheless.

The movie? In case you don't remember, this is the one where the guy swinging through the trees keeps yelling "I'm coming!"

The movie, as you can probably tell from the plot outline above, is a goofy affair. But, the riffing is top-notch.

This is one of my all-time favorite episodes.
